Lefties fall in series opener to Ridgefield

The Port Angeles Lefties fought to tie the game up late, but the Ridgefield Raptors escaped Civic Field with a 4-2 win Tuesday night.
Outfielder Dasan Harris (Univ. of Oklahoma) notched three hits for the Raptors — including a two-run single that got the scoring started for the away team — and the go-ahead run in the seventh inning that put Ridgefield on top for good.
The Lefties struggled to find their hitting groove against starting pitcher Dylan Stewart (Pepperdine), who was coming off a combined no-hitter in his last appearance. The right-hander tossed five innings of one-run ball, not allowing a hit until Roberto Garza-Nunez (Embry-Riddle) hit a two-out triple in the fourth inning.
Ridgefield’s bullpen was strong, sending down 10 straight Port Angeles batters to close out the win and get the road win.
Despite the loss, Port Angeles pitching did a good job of working with runners on. Tyler Bebout (Capital University) and Ryan Wike (Jamestown) both inherited bases-loaded situations and got out of the jam without letting up a single run.
It was a new-look lineup for the Lefties, with top hitters Jeremy Giesegh (Cal State, San Bernardino) and Colin Spear (Transfer Portal) getting the day off against Ridgefield’s top starting pitcher.
With Giesegh’s return to the lineup — a batter with hits in all West Coast League matchups he’s played in — Port Angeles will pose a much larger threat to Ridgefield pitchers heading into the rest of the series.
The Lefties fall to a 3-10 record in league play, but have the chance to improve that mark this week, facing off against the 4-8 Raptors for two more games and then facing off against the Kelowna Falcons later in the week at home.
