Lefties Bats Go Cold Against Redmond

The Donald Brais era has started out 0-2, as the Port Angeles Lefties could not get past the Redmond Dudes, falling to their Pacific International League foes 3-2 to close out their opening homestand.
The Lefties were playing from behind all game, but tied up the ballgame in their half of the seventh inning. The Dudes would plate the winning run just a half inning later, though.
Alex Henderson crossed the plate to give the Dudes their second win after Port Angeles shortstop Yahir Ramirez tried to turn the Lefties’ third inning-ending double play of the night. Ramirez snagged a grounder up the middle from Austin Paul, tagged second base himself, but then committed an error on the throw over to first, allowing Henderson — who was 4-for-4 on the night at the plate — to score.
Two of the three Redmond runs were unearned, as the Lefties committed two defensive errors. The Port Angeles infield is still trying to build chemistry, now recording four errors in the past two games.
Kosei Suzuki scored both of the Lefties’ runs, hitting 2-for-4 at the plate a night after going 0-for-5 at the dish. Port Angeles seemed to have something going in the second inning after Suzuki hit a two-out double, with Zach Blair driving him in later in the inning with a double of his own.
But the Lefties could not string hits together for the rest of the night, as Redmond pitchers sent down 10 straight batters at one point.
Suzuki scored the second run after hitting a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning, touching the plate after a single from Ramirez.
The Lefties travel to Wenatchee for a three-game set with the AppleSox to open up their West Coast League season and will return to Civic Field next Tuesday for another series against Wenatchee.
