Port Angeles Lefties score big but come up short

The Lefties bats woke up in Wenatchee Saturday, scoring 13 runs on 14 hits, but it was not enough to take down Wenatchee as the AppleSox scored 16 of their own. Jeremy Giesegh stood out among the top of the team with five at-bats recording three hits, two RBI, and scoring twice. He also played a lockdown right field, making him the standout player of the night.
The defense noticeably had the best night yet with Roberto Garza-Nunez (Titto) making all-star level plays at second base. The team only had one error on the night and held the Wenatchee base runners to honest play.
But it was Wenatchee’s offense that stole the show on the night. The AppleSox jumped on the Port Angeles pitchers, plating seven runs across the first four innings. Despite the best offensive performance from the Lefties of the season, Wenatchee kept laying it on thick and continued to pounce on Port Angeles pitching.
A bright spot for the Lefties staff was Cade Stuart, who played the role of janitor and cleaned up in his 2.2 innings, only giving up one run and striking out three.
But the future is looking bright with the offense coming together and the staff pitching well heading into Saturday night’s game. The Lefties will look to put it all together and end the series on a win this Sunday at 5:30.
The team will then have Monday off and prepare to play Wenatchee again at home for three games.
